About me
I’m Theresa (she/her) and have been practicing as a Registered Social Worker for 5+ years. I believe my clients deserve to live a life worth living, and work hard to support them in building that.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work with a Minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from Carleton University. I completed my Master of Social Work at University of Toronto with a Specialization in Social Justice and Diversity.
I am committed to continued education to ensure I am providing the best care for my clients. I have completed the Advanced Certificate in Couple and Family Studies from University of Guelph Humber and Part 1 of the Applied Internal Family Systems Practice Certificate from Wilfrid Laurier University.
My focus
I enjoy supporting my clients through a variety of life challenges. My main areas of focus include: body image and disordered eating concerns, sexual assault, addiction and substance use, self-worth, anxiety, and navigating general life stress.
My approach
As a therapist, I rarely rely on one approach to support my clients and tend to draw on a variety of modalities in my work. I work from an attachment-based and strength-based lens, integrating an anti-oppressive lens to my work. I often draw on skills and interventions from therapeutic approaches like Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
Most importantly, I work hard to meet my client where they’re at. I offer a collaborative and integrated approach to ensure your needs are being met to the best of my ability. No two clients are alike, and you deserve support that’s tailored to you.
If at any time I feel I am unable to support you in the way you need, I will always provide alternative referrals to trusted colleagues.
A little more about me
Outside of my work with clients, you’ll most likely find me near some body of water. I tend to spend my time listening to podcasts (which I will often reference in session), re-watching the same few shows a million times, or escaping into a book.
